The historic organ in the Votivkirche was built in 1878 by the renowned organ building firm EF Walcker and examined by Anton Bruckner. Renowned composers and organists have treasured this instrument, played it, and used it as a model for its sound. Fortunately, the instrument is in near-original condition and is considered one of the most important organs in Europe. To preserve this remarkable artistic and musical treasure, the Friends of the Walcker Organ Association was founded in March 2023. The association's goal is to finance the upcoming general renovation of the instrument so that this special organ sound can be preserved for the future.
