is the information and communication platform of the Association Friends of the Walcker Organ, dedicated to the preservation, restoration, and artistic use of the historic Walcker organ of the Votivkirche in Vienna. Since 2021, the association has organized the concert series “Orgelklang Votivkirche”, which has quickly established itself as a permanent fixture of Vienna’s organ scene and is now entering its fifth season.

At its center stands the great Walcker organ of 1878, a large Romantic instrument preserved almost entirely in its original state and one of Europe’s most significant organ monuments. Orgelklang.at provides information on the instrument’s history, current restoration needs, ongoing projects, as well as concerts, artists, and educational offerings.
The platform sees itself as an interface between heritage conservation, music education, and the public — with the aim of making the Walcker organ visible as a living cultural heritage and securing it for the long term.
The historic organ in the Votivkirche
was built in 1878 by the renowned organ-building firm E. F. Walcker and was examined by Anton Bruckner. Distinguished composers and organists have valued this instrument, performed on it, and used it as a tonal ideal.
Fortunately, the instrument has survived almost entirely in its original state and is considered one of the most significant organs in Europe. To preserve this remarkable artistic and musical treasure, the Association Friends of the Walcker Organ was founded in March 2023.
