the Light of Creation light show unfolds its atmospheric power and concludes the concert with a striking visual finale.

Arvid Gast
is Professor of Organ at the University of Music in Lübeck and Titular Organist at St. Jacob’s Church, home to its internationally renowned historical instruments. Born in Bremen, he studied organ and church music in Hanover. Already during his studies he won several organ competitions and, in 1990, assumed the position of organist and cantor at the main church of St. Nikolai in Flensburg.
In 1993 he was appointed Professor of Organ at the University of Music and Theatre “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig and became University Organist of Leipzig. Since 2004, Arvid Gast has lived and worked in Lübeck, and in 2007 he founded the International Dieterich Buxtehude Competition. From 2008 to 2014 he also served as Titular Organist of the concert hall “Georg‑Philipp‑Telemann” in Magdeburg.
Arvid Gast
performs and teaches throughout all European countries as well as in Japan, Korea, China, the USA, South Africa, and South America. He has served as a juror at many prestigious competitions, including in Tokyo, Graz, Leipzig, Moscow, Boston, and Alkmaar. In 2019 he held a guest professorship at the University of Cape Town in South Africa.
