Interview with MARTIN SANDER

Martin Sander is a professor of organ at the Munich University of Music and Performing Arts, and also holds the same position at the Basel University of Music. Previously, he taught at the Heidelberg School of Church Music and the music academies in Detmold and Frankfurt am Main.

His teachers during his studies and master classes included Ulrich Bremsteller, Harald Vogel, Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Flor Peeters, Roland Götz, and Edgar Krapp. Simultaneously with his musical studies, he earned his doctorate in physical chemistry from the University of Göttingen.

Winning several major organ competitions—including the Mendelssohn Competition in Berlin, the ARD Competition in Munich, the JSBach Competition in Leipzig, and the Prague Spring Competition—paved the way for his international concert career. He regularly performs in many important churches and concert halls and has performed as a soloist with numerous renowned orchestras.

In addition to productions and concert recordings for various German and foreign radio and television stations, he has recorded numerous CDs. He conducts numerous master classes, serves as a juror in international competitions, and contributes as an expert to organ restoration and new organ construction projects.
