Jean-Baptiste Dupont

He regularly holds master classes and workshops on interpretation and improvisation and serves as a jury member at international competitions. Jean-Baptiste Dupont has been a finalist and prizewinner in numerous organ competitions, both in interpretation and improvisation (St-Albans, England; Kaliningrad, Russia; and Toulouse, France).

His teachers include Michel Bouvard, Louis Robilliard, Philippe Lefebvre, Jan Willem Jansen, and Thérese Dussaut. He is currently recording the complete organ works of Max Reger for Hortus Editions.

His work on this composer has received international recognition and has led Mr. Dupont to participate in several symposia and international events on Max Reger. His recent releases include an improvisation recording for the Hortus label and Widor's Symphony No. 8 for the Audite label, which has received critical acclaim.

Jean-Baptiste Dupont was appointed organist at Bordeaux Cathedral following a competition in April 2012. He has been the artistic director of Cathedra (church music at Bordeaux Cathedral) since 2014. Since the organ can no longer be used for concerts, he is committed to rebuilding the cathedral organ.

THE GREAT ORGAN OF THE VOTIVE CHURCH

The historic organ in the Votivkirche was built in 1878 by the renowned organ builder E. F. Walcker and inspected by Anton Bruckner. Renowned composers and organists have treasured this instrument, played it, and used it as a model for their sound. Fortunately, the instrument remains in almost original condition and is considered one of the most important organs in Europe.
