About the event
Arvid Gast, born in 1962 in Bremen, is regarded as one of the most distinguished German organists of his generation. After studying organ and church music in Hanover — a period already marked by competition successes — he assumed the position of organist and cantor at the main church of St. Nikolai in Flensburg in 1990. In 1993, he was appointed to the University of Music and Theatre Leipzig, where he served as Professor of Organ and was simultaneously named University Organist.
Since 2004, he has shaped the training of young musicians at the Lübeck University of Music as Professor of Organ and head of the Church Music program. In early 2005, he took on the historic organist position at St. Jakobi in Lübeck, whose instruments rank among the most significant in northern Germany.
